The universal adapter sits on top of the flue that comes with the fireplace.
1. Please review the installation manual for your fireplace. The diagram is correct. The universal adapter slides inside the flue below it and catches the edge.
2. You will be unable to install this part until you have the flue on hand.
3. Some dealers have found this part unnecessary. They found the slip connector will fit in OK without it. This is OK. Do what works best for your application. The slip connector must be included however.
