FCS - What if I smell gas from a Gyro or Ergofocus Fireplace?

Follow the steps below if you detect a gas odor from a Gyro or Ergofocus fireplace with a factory installed burner.

  • Do not try to turn on the appliance.
  • Do not touch any electrical switches
  • Do not use any telephones in your building
  • Immediately call a gas technician/supplier from a neighbors phone or a cell-phone outside
  • If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department
Installation and maintenance must be performed by a qualified installer.

With the gas off, verify that the track pipe and gas fitting were installed correctly

LEAK TEST

Switch on and check that there are no gas leaks from the supply to the burner

  1. Open gas shut-off valves
  2. Apply enough leak test solution to each connection (circled in red in the diagram below). Hold a towel or rag under the joints to catch any spill-over
  3. If there are leaks, bubbles will appear at the joints. Use a small mirror to see any hidden areas.
    1. If a leak is detected, tighten the connection to the maximum torque at all 3 locations and repeat the test.
    2. After testing, thoroughly rinse all joints with water and dry.
