The Heterofocus is waxed raw steel and should be cleaned after installation and waxed twice a year.
After installation, wipe surface down with a soft cloth to remove any debris
If there is any rust buildup during shipment or storage please follow the steps below
- Soak a rag in mineral spirits to remove the black wax and rust.
- If you cannot remove all the rust with a rag, you can use fine steel wool (#OOO)
- Press hard enough to remove the rust, but not too hard to scratch the surface
- Place small 1/4" diameter dollops of the supplied Zebraline ® wax (provided with your fireplace) every 6" on and around the cleaned area
- Spread them evenly with a soft cotton cloth
- Polish with a clean cloth
- Clean and wax twice a year to prevent rust from reappearing
