* Can I install the fireplace on a flat surface?
Yes but there has to be at least 2" under the fireplace to provide air to the fans that animate the flame ribbons.
* Can the wall board be install directly on the 1/2" flange around the opening?
Yes, the wall board can be install to the flange, however the entire weight of the wall board above the fireplace, must be supported by the framing above.
* Are any air vents required to provide fresh air to the fans underneath?
No, these fans can reuse the air in the enclosure underneath the fireplace.
