EV - Compton: How to Adjust Stuck Flames

How do I adjust the flame ribbons so they are more active?

First take out all the media then remove the 2 screws on either side of the fuel bed.

Put the screws off to the side so they don't end up in the workings of the fireplace.

Remove the fuel bed by simply lifting up and pulling away to reveal the fans.

Careful not to touch the fans or any of the electrical connections.

Using your finger, press and crease the flame ribbon at the bottom to tighten the ribbon.

Always wait for 10 - 15 minutes after the adjustment to check the performance.  This takes care of 90 % of these 'Lazy Flame" issues.

If the ribbons are still not productive  you can tighten the ribbon at the top.  This will require that you remove the glass from the back panel, with a suction cup bottom first.  Compton Pic4

The glass is a tight fit, but will it come out by bringing the bottom edge towards you out first.

Next remove the plastic display screen.  This is also a tight fit and you may need to bow it out in order to get a finger under it.  Compton Pic2

The top of the display screen is darker than the bottom so be sure to replace it in the same position.

With display screen removed you can now access the top of the ribbons.  Again you can crease the ribbon but this time at the top.

Compton Pic1Do not attempt to remove the ribbon from the backing surface unless you have replacement ribbons in hand.  They can prove to be fragile.

Once complete reinstall all the parts in reverse.
